The Story
The film "Everythingness" follows the incredible journey of Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, the Reincarnate Tibetan Buddhist Lama and meditation Master, as he embarks on a transformative trip through the sacred landscapes of India. Despite holding a high position as the abbot of a monastery and being widely known in the world, he yearned for self-discovery and spiritual awakening, just like the legendary yogi Milarepa from the past.

As Rinpoche escapes the confines of the monastery to embark on a Wandering Retreat, the story weaves together his everyday existence in the outer world and his challenges with moments of introspection. Through the practice of meditation, he discovers a profound sense of balance that sustains him amidst the imperfections of the world. Afraid of unfamiliar terrain and human interaction, Rinpoche spends time at Varanasi train station, maintaining his meditative focus to help his fears.

Disguised as a humble pilgrim, he sets forth into Kushinagar, the sacred site of the Buddha's Parinirvana. Through flashbacks and dreams, we are introduced to significant figures in Buddhist history and timeless teachings that resonate with universal truths. Meanwhile, as Rinpoche's resources dwindle, he experiences the harsh reality of poverty and sustains a life-threatening poisoning from eating leftovers. Following a near-death experience, he discovered the profound wisdom in cultivating compassion, embracing impermanence, and letting go of attachments through his inner exploration.

The Pilgrim's Path of Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche is a testament to the power of resilience and self-discovery, and a reminder that we all have the strength to persevere in the face of adversity.
